SIPTU hillwalkers make donation to Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue

SIPTU hillwalkers at the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue base near Laragh, County Wicklow, on Sunday, 13th December, during the presentation of a cheque for €1500 to representatives of Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team. The donation contributes to offsetting the significant cost of the search and rescue service which the Team provides on a volunteer basis in the Wicklow mountains area. One third of the Mountain Rescue Team's costs are met by Government grant. The remaining two thirds depend on their own fund raising events and donations. The service is provided at no cost to hill walkers or any citizen who may have reason to call on their help. The cheque was presented by Noel Dowling to the Team's Callout Officer, Diarmaid Scully.
